We provide equine-based therapeutic services and educational riding opportunities for children and individuals of all abilities. Our services may include therapeutic riding, equine-assisted occupational therapy, and physical education activities incorporating horses and the barn environment. We focus on building confidence, strength, coordination, balance, motor skills, independence, and overall participation through engaging, individualized experiences with horses. Services are tailored to each participant’s developmental needs, abilities, and goals in a safe and supportive environment.

Dr. Jordan Balkin, OTD, OTR/L, CTRI
Horses have been a lifelong passion for Jordan Balkin. Growing up on her family’s horse farm in New York, she was introduced to the equestrian world at an early age and has spent more than 20 years competing on the AQHA and USEF circuits in both English and Western disciplines.
Today, Jordan combines her extensive equestrian experience with her professional background as a Doctor of Occupational Therapy and PATH International Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor. Her unique experience allows her to understand both the horse and rider while creating thoughtful, individualized experiences that promote confidence, independence, skill development, and a meaningful connection with the horse.
Through Balkin Equestrian, Jordan is passionate about sharing the benefits of horses with riders of all backgrounds and abilities. Whether through riding instruction, equestrian education, or therapeutic programming, her goal is to create a welcoming environment where every rider can learn, grow, and develop a lasting partnership with their horse.
FAQ:
1- Location? We are located in the Ocala Horse Complex next to Calesa Township and down the street from The World Equestrian Center
2- Do you accept insurance? No, we are a cash based practice. We can provide a superbill for insurance reimbursement. We also accept Step-up for all services.
3- Are your sessions group or private? All sessions are private 1:1 that incorporate grooming, tacking up, untacking...etc. Each lesson will have a minimum of 1 horse leader in addition to Jordan. Sidewalkers will be used as needed.
4- What are the dates for your fall lesson package? The fall session runs for 9 weeks starting in October.
5- What are the dates for your winter lesson package? Winter 2027 is currently TBD. Stay tuned for updates shortly!
6- Do you offer discounts? Yes! we offer 10% off for purchasing each package upfront.
7- What is your cancellation policy? We ask for 24 hours in advanced notice for all cancellations. Full payment will be due for no call no-show and your child will not be allowed to ride the following week until payment is made.
8- What do I need to bring for my childs session? Every participant is required to wear long pants, closed toe shoes, and a helmet. You may provide your own helmet (get approval from Jordan prior) or you can use one of ours.
8- Do you offer English or Western lessons? We offer both.
9- Are your horses safe? Our horses are retired show horses that have additionally gone through extensive training both mounted and unmounted with various objects before being accepting for use in our program.
10- Do you offer horse showing opportunities? Yes! We show locally in Ocala in both local and AQHA horse shows. Isaac is a reqistered AQHA gelding and can show at AQHA shows. He has an extensive winning record all over the country with his previous and current owners. He would love to take a rider to The All American Quarter Horse Congress in 2027 to show in the Equestrians with Disabilities classes! He is ready to win!
